Who we are

D&D Larix, LLC — Forest Econometrics, makers of the FRASS Platform

Forest Econometrics is home to the FRASS Platform, a system designed to deliver defensible, cycle-aware forestland valuation rooted in biometric science, real-time economics, and multi-rotation financial modeling.

Our work is conducted through D&D Larix, LLC, a natural resource consulting firm providing rigorous, data-driven analysis for public, private, and sovereign forestland owners. For more than three decades we have integrated forest biometrics, delivered log market analytics, wildlife and habitat assessment, anadromous salmon river dynamics, and natural resource policy into decision-ready valuation systems.

Our clients include county and state agencies, Indian tribes, federal governments, private forestland owners, international institutions, and organizations seeking clarity, transparency, and long-term insight in forest management and valuation.

Applied Engineering Mentorship

In recent years, development of the FRASS Platform has expanded through applied mentorship of engineering students working on real-world analytical systems. Faculty-guided Capstone teams from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University contribute to selected system components under professional supervision.

These contributions focus on implementation, integration, and performance refinement—including mobile data collection, GIS workflows, database modernization, and analytical automation—while preserving the integrity of FRASS’s underlying biological, economic, and valuation frameworks.

Dr. William E. Schlosser, Founder and Principal Economist of D&D Larix, serves as a Capstone Team Mentor, guiding students as they apply engineering theory to complex, production-grade analytical systems. This work supports both the continued evolution of FRASS and the professional development of the next generation of engineers.

The current WSU Engineering Capstone team (2025–26) is actively contributing to multiple areas of the FRASS platform. Their work reflects a rotating collaboration designed to advance applied forestry analytics while providing students with substantive, industry-relevant experience.

Why We Exist

Forestlands are assets that grow, mature, change, and ultimately shape the communities around them. The FRASS Platform was built to make forestland value:

  • transparent,
  • defensible,
  • measurable,
  • repeatable, and
  • financially meaningful across rotations and into perpetuity.

Our work is guided by the belief that forest stewardship begins with financial accountability— and that accountability is only possible when valuation is grounded in real biometrics, real markets, and real economics.
