FVS Integration (Data Sources)
FRASS ingests growth-and-yield outputs from the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) and reconciles them on a per-tree basis. Core inputs include Species (FIA codes), DBH (outside bark), Total Height, Crown Ratio, CFV (Cubic-Foot Volume), and Trees-per-Acre expansion factors.
CFV as the Benchmark
FRASS’s Flex Taper solver adjusts taper geometry until the computed cubic-foot volume exactly matches the FVS-reported CFV for the same tree. This CFV reconciliation is the single point of truth used before any merchandising occurs.

From Growth Data to Log-Level Value
After CFV reconciliation, FRASS predicts DIB at log segments, derives SED/LED, and assigns log grades. Volumes are retrieved via Scribner lookups and valued with the RPA Forecast Tool, preserving biometric transparency into financial outputs. Crown Ratio is required for δ estimation; species-specific bark factors convert DOB→DIB.
Summary
FVS ➜ per-tree biometrics (Species, DBH OB, Height, CR, CFV) ➜ Flex Taper δ reconciliation to CFV ➜ segment DIB / SED / LED ➜ grade + Scribner volumes ➜ delivered-log values via RPA.
